If you want to print on media, such as envelopes and cards then the Dell 1700 Printer allows you to use the front manual slot for paper feed, but keep in mind that you need to use one envelope or card sheet at a time, so as not to overload your printer. Card sheets can be fed using the normal paper tray, but you cannot use it for envelopes. Envelopes or other types of media that are relatively thicker can be fed via the back exit of the printer which opens just for this.
Consequently, the printer seems to be quite cost effective, since the cost of consumables is significantly lower than in other similar printers and the average cost per page is definitely small - being close to 1.6cent per page. If you want to use the printer for small office printing jobs, then you won't be disappointed. The printer features a 15.000 pages duty cycle, which is pretty acceptable and satisfying.
This Dell printer can print on plain standard paper, labels, card sheets and envelopes. When it comes to thicker papers - than the typical ones - or envelopes, you can simply feed them one by one from the rear exit, which is convenient and easy to use.
An overall good build quality and great print jobs is what you should expect from the Dell 1700. The home users and those who tend to print text reports or small newsletters will be more than satisfied with this printer, which tops the list of its category, being a cost effective and dependable printer.
